Newcastle injuries update: Good news/Bad news on four players from Steve McClaren

The international break was a fortnight where hopefully the Newcastle injuries situation would take a turn for the better.

With what looks a tough set of games against Leicester, Palace, Liverpool and Spurs, before what could be potentially a must-win game against Villa just before Christmas, Steve McClaren will need as many positives as possible to try and build on the Bournemouth win.

The United boss has given mixed news on players he was/is hoping to see fit and available in the near future.

The Rolando Aarons injury nightmare continues, the Head Coach had expected him back early in December after the winger injured his foot in training.

However, when asked for an update on Aarons, Steve McClaren said:

“Unfortunately, Rolando is still on crutches and so we are not really sure how long that will take.”

The expectation now for Rolando Aarons is sometime after Christmas at the very earliest for him to return.

McClaren then also gave an update on three other players currently out.

Jack Colback:

“Jack is progressing really well and we are delighted with him so far.”

The midfielder now looks on target to be back in December.

Emmanuel Riviere:

“Manu keeps having little setbacks and niggles but we hope we might get him back into (full) training in the next week or two.”

Steven Taylor:

“Steven will be fighting (a losing battle) to play any part in December, we are probably looking more at the start of next year with him.”
