News this morning that former Newcastle player Kieron Dyer will be one of the guests on ‘I’m a celebrity…get me out of here’.

Dyer will be at the mercy of Ant and Dec when the latest series kicks off, with the show broadcasted from next Sunday (15 November).

The Mirror report that after the success of Jimmy Bullard on the show last year, they were keen to get another former Premier league footballer to take part.

Kieron Dyer is only 36 and when he landed in Australia to be met by ‘I’m a celebrity’ staff, he refused to confirm he was in the show but shook his head when he was asked whether he would be scared of any of the challenges he would face in the show.

Laughing, he joked that he was in Australia for a different reason:

“I’m just here to play football for Brisbane.”

The Mirror report a source saying:

“Our viewers love watching footballers off the pitch and Kieron Dyer is a face lots of sports fans will know.

“He has got a reputation as a bit of a bad boy which he will be keen to change but he he’ll also have loads of great stories about a number of England stars and he’s played for a number of different clubs.

“We think he is a great name for the show and football fans will either love him or love to hate him….”

No news yet as to whether Lee Bowyer will be joining him in the jungle…
