Could Bournemouth be really after this Newcastle player?

It is claimed today that Bournemouth are preparing a bid for a Newcastle player in January, step forward Yoan Gouffran.

Only 66 Premier League minutes and 6 goals conceded in that disastrous collapse at the Etihad, a bizarre Steve McClaren experiment pairing Yoan Gouffran with Vurnon Anita in the middle of the pitch.

What could possibly go wrong….

However, The Sunday People claims that Bournemouth Manager Eddie Howe is considering moving for Gouffran in the January transfer window due to the number of injuries to key players.

If this one turns out to have any legs (the transfer speculation, not Yoan Gouffran obviously!) then I will be more than a ‘little’ surprised.

I suppose Eddie Howe did take Dan Gosling and turned him back into a football player based on the Bournemouth v Newcastle match two weeks ago, although it doesn’t take much to impress when Tiote and Anita are up against you.

For the record, Yoan Gouffran has scored a total of two Premier League goals across the whole of 2014 and 2015, with both of them flukes. A deflected goal against Hull and the keeper kicking it off him against Southampton.

It is amazing to think that Gouffran looked a decent player who never stopped trying when he first arrived at St James Park.

The question has to be posed, are most of the current squad really as bad as they are showing us to be, or are there serious questions to be asked of what is happening under Steve McClaren, just as was the case under our old friend, Alan Pardew?
