These 8 Newcastle players need to be shipped out in January before invest in new recruits

The last few weeks have highlighted the shambles that the club has found itself in.

By the end of this year, the stats for NUFC in the calendar years 2014 and 2015 across all levels are going to be upsetting.

This rot and culture of defeat through the ranks cannot be changed overnight but has to be led from the top.

Investment in January can’t just be in transfer fees but in getting Newcastle players out. The club by the end of January needs to feel new. From the rumours coming via our favourite ‘club insider’ there has been regular unrest. This is not surprising in a football club but with the regularity that Tiote, Sissoko and Cisse are mentioned, it means they must be moved on at any price.

As things stand, evolution is not working and if the ownership have faith in their new management structure then the focus needs to be on club culture.

Remember Sir Bobby had us playing Champions League football despite the trouble makers. The difference was that those players wanted to win at all costs. While not quite good enough to go all the way, most were looking to prove something at Newcastle. It was not about the next move.

This is important in a club. We are seeing youth players have success on loan which is not replicated in results back home. The fact that players they look up to are inspired by a transfer rather than a cup, must have an impact.

We always sold the club on the pride of the city but now we sell it as a stepping stone to Champions League clubs. We are not even that any more.

A transfer policy based on young talent is not going to change but the tone has to. We need to live by the fans mantra of looking for a team that tries.

We have a squad of players who should be comfortable in keeping us mid-table. It is not down to individual ability but lack of personality and culture. Again, going back to what others have said, we need leadership. This then leads on to who else needs to go.

Our not so valiant leader. Colo has looked slightly better in glimpses but is not acting as the senior pro. That is his role and he is failing, so he needs to leave. De Jong is back up and therefore you need to either commit to Colback or hand captaincy to a young but experienced captain – Wijnaldum.

It may cost nearly £10m to ship out Sissoko, Cisse, Tiote, Colo, Obertan, Gouffran, Vuckic and Williamson. It may leave us short at times in the new year. It will change the club though.

We’ve tried pretty much everything else. This may be the last roll of the dice. But then that’s only if our current management team can do something in the short-term to keep their own jobs!

Most importantly, this needs to be planned. It can’t just drag out through January. We need to ship them out on the 1st Jan and then rebuild from there.

There’s some great potential in this squad so let’s see them flourish rather than being dragged down with/by the old guard.

Please Mike, spend the money to allow us to ship them out. It will be worth it!
