The dream forward line Newcastle United missed out on
It is the Newcastle forward line that United fans missed out on, a number of times down the years Emile Heskey was linked with a move to St James Park.
To the great relief of Newcastle supporters, he was one of the countless rumours that never became reality.
However, Heskey could be in line to form a formidable partnership with a player he could have been playing alongside at St James Park.
Step forward Shola Ameobi.
Yes, this dream team up front could happen for Bolton Wanderers fans.
Emile Heskey joined the Lancashire club from Australian outfit Newcastle Jets last December and now Bolton manager Neil Lennon has confirmed today that Shola Ameobi will train with the Championship club with the view to a permanent deal.
“Shola has got a good pedigree and might offer us something a little bit different.
“We’ll take a good look at him and make a decision from there.”
It is the fourth Championship club Shola Ameobi will have trained with so far this season, with Huddersfield Town, Wolves and then the latest, Sheffield Wednesday, taking a close look but not signing him up.
If everything works out, Bolton fans may soon be watching the dynamic due glide across the turf, Heskey (37) and Shola (33) forming a 70 year old combined partnership.
Emile Heskey has shown he hasn’t lost it in the 10 months he has spent at Bolton, scoring one goal in 27 appearances (15 starts and 12 as sub).
