Stan Collymore says Newcastle United turned into a ‘joke club’ by Mike Ashley
Stan Collymore says that Newcastle United have been turned into a ‘joke club’ under Mike Ashley’s ownership.
Describing Newcastle as a ‘great’ club, Collymore has criticised the running of the club as well as local rivals Sunderland.
Their owner Ellis Short has also had the accusation levelled at him as both clubs flounder once again.
Making up the joke trio is the club that Stan Collymore actually supports, Aston Villa.
The fact that these clubs make up the bottom three and over the past three seasons have been the weakest of the current surviving Premier League clubs, tells you that there are serious problems under the ownerships of Short, Lerner and Mike Ashley.
Dropping down a division, Collymore also adds Leeds United and their latest abysmal owner, Massismo Cellino.
Stan Collymore on Talksport:
“They (Newcastle and Sunderland) are great clubs but they have been turned into jokes by ownership like Mike Ashley, Ellis Short, and you can throw Randy Lerner (Aston Villa) in with them.
“At the extreme end, the funny end, the cartoon end… although it’s not funny for Leeds United fans, Massimo Cellino.”
