Newcastle will beat Sunderland if their big players turn up, according to Jamie Redknapp.
The former Spurs and Liverpool players says that the likes of Mitrovic, Sissoko and Wijnaldum are too good for Sunderland if they are at their best.
Redknapp says that Sunderland can’t keep dancing with their devil and predicted they would be relegated at the start of the season.
Since then he has seen nothing to change his mind and says despite bringing in Allardyce, if they don’t sign some good players in January they are knackered.
Jamie Redknapp thinks that repeatedly sacking managers has kind of worked for the mackems so far but that it is destined to end in disaster.
Let’s hope this is the year!
Jamie Redknapp speaking to Sky Sports:
“Surely you think Newcastle have been brought back to life. Mitrovic was very last week, Wijnaldum scored the goals and they were really really good.
“If their good players play like they can, I think Newcastle will win this game.”
Best week of his life:
“Wijnaldum has probably had the best week of his training life, if you score that many goals then this week should have been brilliant, the same with Sissoko.
“They are the big players in this match and if they play well then I think they are too big and powerful for this Sunderland midfield.”
Dancing with the devil:
“Sunderland have won the last five against Newcastle which is an incredible stat, I don’t think they will win this one though.
“I think from Sunderland’s point of view, at the start of the year I was asked which three teams that would go down, I just said that Sunderland can’t keep dancing with the devil.”
Same old story at Sunderland:
“Every year they keep sacking managers, hoping a new one will keep them up. It has worked so far but it can’t be right, it just seems to me they have to do something with their recruitment and get better players.
“One thing for sure is that they have got the right manager to keep them up and given him enough time. If they don’t get some really good players in January, I just look at that team though and it looks destined to go down.
“This is the sort of game that can turn a season around, if they can win this one as other managers have, look at Di Canio, Poyet…”
