Paul Simpson names two qualities Norwich have, that Newcastle are missing

Paul Simpson has identified two major reasons why Norwich have started the season well.

The United first team coach says that they have got momentum thanks to keeping it going off the back of promotion, whilst he also says that the Canaries have also got enthusiasm.

Simpson says that it is up to Newcastle’s players to knock this enthusiasm out of the visitors, though he might need to concentrate on how to inject some of that into some of our less than ‘enthusiastic’ players.

Obviously momentum has been totally absent this season, unless you count the 4-1 win over League Two Northampton in the League Cup.

However, that was immediately followed by four defeats on the bounce, crushing any semblance of momentum, especially in the case of Florian Thauvin who had been star of the show against Northampton.

Paul Simpson also believes that if Newcastle’s players go into the match ‘positive and lively’ they will stand ‘a heck of a chance’ of beating Norwich.

Hopefully the coaching staff will have the players skipping into that game, full of positivity, enthusiasm and then set off some momentum.

Paul Simpson speaking to NUFC TV:

“Norwich are a very good football side, I have got to say that to start with. They have got some match winners in there, some good players, but we have to make sure we are on our game.

“This is a side that has carried on with the momentum of promotion and got that enthusiasm about them, so it is up to us to knock that out of them.”

Positive and lively:

“We have got to go and work unbelievably hard, harder than we have worked for seasons, we have to do that starting with Norwich. We have to close people down, play football, play attacking football.

“If we can go in positive and lively then we have a heck of a chance of getting our season going against Norwich.”
