Newcastle United release official statement on Tim Krul injury

Newcastle United have released an official statement on Tim Krul’s injury situation.

The Newcastle keeper ended up playing for Holland on Saturday night after first choice Jasper Cillessen was injured in the warm up.

Now the club have confirmed the disastrous news that thanks to his right knee suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury, Tim Krul won’t play again this season.

With Karl Darlow also injured, it looks as though Rob Elliot will start against Norwich, whilst Freddie Woodman has been recalled from his loan spell as cover.

Newcastle United Official Statement

‘Krul ruled out for season

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul has been ruled out for the rest of the 2015/16 Premier League season with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

The Dutch international had to be withdrawn after 81 minutes of the Netherlands’ European Championships qualification match at Kazakhstan’s Astana Arena on Saturday evening and scans have since determined the severity of the injury.

Krul will now return to Tyneside for further treatment and rehabilitation and everyone at the club wishes him a speedy recovery.

Following Krul’s injury, Freddie Woodman has been recalled from his loan spell at Crawley Town.’
