My inspired Newcastle team v Norwich

I know a few of you may disagree but here is my inspired Newcastle team v Norwich City.

Steve McClaren confirmed that Janmaat, Colback, Haidara and Dummett were all training and in contention to start against Norwich.

However, I would only pick a couple of full-backs out of the four to go into today’s team.

Overall, it seems obvious to me that United have to go on the attack and so I have picked a 4-4-2 diamond formation with Mitrovic and Perez pushed up together.

I do have two choices in my team that might be a bit controversial.

I think we can all agree that Yoan Gouffran was a disastrous selection at Manchester City, so no unrest there when I have left him out.

However, I think that both Colback and Anita should also be left on the sidelines. I don’t think either of them create or protect the back four enough to deserve a place.

Surely McClaren has to start taking a few chances to mix things around and hopefully start getting a winning formula.

Siem de Jong must start, he might still be struggling for full fitness but even if he can play 50 or 60 minutes, his intelligent play surely gives us more chance  of creating up front.

On the other hand, Cheick Tiote can be the man to belatedly give the defence some help. He has become a bit estranged from the first team with injuries playing a big part but today I would put him in, now he’s back to full fitness.

To create the image above I used the NUFC team selector.

You can do the same by following the simple instructions HERE and then there are a number of great options where you can then also share your team via Twitter (include @nufcthemag in your tweet and we will share some of them with our 16k+ followers) , or you can share the selector on Facebook with friends, family and the rest of the black and white world. Alternatively, simply downloading the team image to the device you are using

When using the NUFC team selector you simply click on what team formation (4-3-3, 4-4-2 etc) you want, then click each position on the pitch and choose from the Newcastle United squad.

Go to the NUFC team selector now and choose and share your Newcastle team v Norwich City.

Before every match, simply go to the menu at the top of this screen and click features, then on the drop down list click NUFC Team Selector and choose your team for every match.
