Ian Wright suddenly decides he rates Newcastle summer signing

Ian Wright has suddenly decided that Aleksandar Mitrovic was always a decent player.

The former Arsenal striker has waited until nine games in and for Newcastle to win 6-2 before deciding to get behind the Serbian striker.

With two goals in his last two games and very good all round performances, Mitrovic now has the Ian Wright seal of approval, though it is a bit disingenuous for him to now claim that he’d always known the striker had the quality.

Ian Wright now says that he had already marked the Newcastle forward down as a potential star due to ‘flashes’ he’d seen of him.

Amusingly, the media pundit says that many people have overlooked the quality of the Newcastle No.45 because of the striker’s disciplinary side, I say amusing as Ian Wright was one of the main cheerleaders for the over the top reaction to Mitrovic’s sending off against Arsenal.

Ian Wright speaking to The Sun:

“You can see with his (Mitrovic’s) touches….he causes defenders problems.

“The touch and finish for the goal (v Norwich), his chest control and finish – he took the defender out, he took everyone out.”

No surprise:

“You know what?

“It wasn’t surprising to see because we have seen flashes of him, but I think the emphasis has been on his disciplinary side.”
