First team coach: ‘ We are hoping Cheick Tiote can bring winning desire to the team’

Paul Simpson has been talking about the four changes to the team against Norwich, including Cheick Tiote in midfield.

The first team coach says they are confident Rob Elliot can ‘do the job’ and happy that Paul Dummett is fit to return.

In midfield, Simpson says the hope is Cheick Tiote can add ‘steel’ and a ‘real desire to win’.

Explaining Jack Colback is also coming in and Vurnon Anita dropping to the bench, Paul Simpson though doesn’t even mention why Yoan Gouffran has gone from being in the team to not even in the squad…

Paul Simpson:

“Tim Krul is absent and obviously we are going to miss him for a considerable amount of time.

Rob Elliot comes into goal and we are confident that Rob can do the job, no issues there.”

“Then change in midfield, with Vurnon Anita going onto the substitutes bench and Cheick Tiote coming into midfield, just in the hope that he is going to add a bit of steel to us.

“He has got a real desire to win and we are hoping that he can bring that to the team.”

“We were reasonably pleased with Massadio Haidara earlier in the season and we lost him through injury, Kevin Mbabu came in and looked very very promising, then unfortunately got a not serious looking hamstring injury:

“We are delighted to have Paul Dummett back and Massadio Haidara on the bench as well just in case.”
