In England the transfer window has closed for the Premier League and the divisions below, with 6pm on Tuesday 1 September seeing it slam shut.
However, a number of other countries have a later date than England and can still buy players, including from the Premier League.
It is the transfer window dates in the buying club’s country that count, rather than the selling one.
These are seven countries where the transfer window remains open, with the closing day for each detailed below:
5 September Mexico
7 September Albania
8 September Israel
8 September Romania
21 September UAE
22 September Australia
22 September Portugal
So there is still a chance of Mike Williamson relocating to Albania, or Yoan Gouffran turning up in Israel.
Of the countries that could feasibly take any of Newcastle’s players, Portugal is a small possibility, though normally it would be players heading from there to the Premier League.
Realistically though, the cash-rich United Arab Emirates are occasionally linked with Premier League players, with Papiss Cisse one of those who was supposedly interesting a UAE club in a previous window.
