Nothing much gets past Steve McClaren and he has declared that the ‘Last 3 games have not been so good’.
However, the Head Coach is convinced that if they can transfer the ‘fantastic attitude’ in training into first team matches, they can turn it around.
Maybe we should all go and watch them train instead of the proper matches!
McClaren says that the players are playing it too safe and not taking risks but surely it is his job to set out the way the players are approaching a match.
He also insists that the team are still going into every match thinking they will win.
Let’s hope that this claimed positive attitude manifests itself on the pitch today.
“The last three three games have not been so good…
“You can see that we’re playing too safe and not taking enough risks, we need to take risks and go for it. We have a front four capable of scoring goals but we just need to get the shackles off and we have to go for it.”
We can win any game:
“We go into every game thinking that if we prepare right, do the right things, execute our game plan and play as I know we can, we can win any game – that is football.”
“I don’t like the idea of clubs raising their game, why raise your game for one team and not the other?”
“Obviously you always look at the opponent but mainly we have to look to ourselves. It’s Chelsea, it’s a big game for everyone at the Club and we need to give it our all.”
“We know they will turn the corner and move up the table because they’ve got the quality to do that and it’s about ourselves and what we want to do. If we produce our philosophy on the field, we’ll score goals.
“We’re trying to turn things round and reinstall that belief in the players and the Club. We believe in the players and their attitude is fantastic in training – we just need to transfer that attitude and belief onto the field.”
