Steve McClaren talks ‘Bull’ ahead of Chelsea match
Steve McClaren says that the players can’t feel sorry for themselves and have to believe they can beat Chelsea.
The Head Coach says he wants them to ‘Take the bull by the horns’ and make sure they do everything between now and Saturday night to start and put things right.
McClaren says that you can feel that there is a confidence issue running through the team and they are missing that bit of quality in the final third.
Plus one thing you certainly can’t disagree with, is Steve McClaren’s profound statement that ‘if you don’t score you don’t win’.
Hopefully we will have a bit of both on Saturday teatime…
“We want to get them out there and fight on Saturday. It is an opportunity and one that we shouldn’t fear.
“We have got to take the bull by the horns and give a reaction, starting now and finishing on Saturday night.”
If you don’t score you don’t win:
“It (Sheffield Wednesday) follows on from Saturday (Watford) and we got enough of the ball, enough possession, enough opportunities in the final third, enough chances – if you don’t score you don’t win.
“We are lacking that quality in the final third, a little bit of something the players have got, but we are not producing in the present moment. That produces a nervousness, you can feel that, a confidence issue.”
You have got to believe:
“We can’t feel sorry for ourselves and have to say ‘That one is gone, the next one is Chelsea!’.
“Do we fear it, do we be a victim, we don’t want to play in that…? We have got to, we have got to get people ready for Saturday, ready to fight and react to turn things around – you have got to say and you have got to believe – and I do, that could be Saturday.”
