The Newcastle squad has been revealed to be one of the twenty most expensively assembled in the major European leagues.
The CIES Football Observatory produced updated information this week, regarding the five major European League – France, Italy, Germany, England and Spain.
Newcastle were found to be the eighth most expensive in the Premier League and now they are named in 19th place when compared to clubs across the other European Leagues.
The table below was compiled by The Mail from the statistics published by the CIES Football Observatory:
When they say the top 20 most expensive squads in the five major European leagues, it basically equates to the most expensive 20 in the world. With possibly the very odd exception, such as one of the Russian clubs having money pumped into them by a private investor and spent on players.
We already knew that Newcastle United were in the top 20 turnovers in World Football, as well as in the top 20 of most valuable clubs in the World, so now we are named as one of the top 20 most expensively assembled squads, after this summer’s welcome return to ambition shown in the transfer market (with similar money to this summer to be spent in future windows we are told)….
Can we have hopes that very soon Newcastle could be in the World’s top 20 most successful clubs…?
With predictions that from the 2016/17 season all Premier League clubs will see TV income increase by some £40m per season, it is quite clear that the money spent on the squads is only going to go one way.
With the Premier League broadcasting deals leaving other countries way behind, in the years to come this table above will be ever more dominated by English clubs.
