Gary Speed RIP

Gary Speed would have been 46 today, another life cut tragically short.

Mental illness is as much a killer as any other illness when not managed properly.

Speed signed for us in February 1998, by Kenny Dalglish, for a fee of £5.5 million.

We played West Ham next game and he played (Newcastle losing 1-0 – hopefully not an omen).

A fan favourite who was taken too early, Speedo was a nice guy, a genuine all round good guy, having met him briefly, he was a perfect gentleman and always made time for the fans.

So, from a fan of football and NUFC, Gary Speed, Rest in Peace, and hopefully you have found some.
