Steve McClaren will be without a full team of players when Newcastle take on Sheffield Wednesday tonight.
Aleksandar Mitrovic misses the third game of his three match suspension, though he will be available for Chelsea on Saturday.
The long-term injured Sylvain Marveaux, Paul Dummett, Curtis Good and Emmanuel Riviere won’t be available for the foreseeable future, as they are still recovering from long-term injury.
Whilst Steve McClaren gave updates on a number of players at his press conference on Tuesday.
The full list looks like this…
Karl Darlow – Ankle
Steven Taylor – Out for at least 2 months after operation
Jack Colback – Picked up a knock according to Steve McClaren on Tuesday
Paul Dummett – Hamstring
Emmanuel Riviere – Knee
Aleksandar Mitrovic – Suspended
Massadio Haidara – Picked up a knock according to Steve McClaren on Tuesday
Cheick Tiote – Training again but not ready to play
Sylvain Marveaux -Groin
Curtis Good – Thigh
Papiss Cisse – Back problem since West Ham according to Steve McClaren on Tuesday
It sounds as though Colback and Haidara are at worst carrying minor niggles and will be alright for Chelsea, whilst Papiss Cisse could well be just being taken out of the firing line.
It could though be an interesting bench tonight!
