First touch goal for 18 year old saves us from Alan Pardew lovefest
18 year old Kelechi Iheanacho has ensured that Match of The Day will be seen in the Martin household tonight.
An 89th minute sub for Manchester City, the young substitute scoring the winner at Selhurst Park with his first touch of the ball.
The scene had been set with Crystal Palace lying second behind league leaders Man City, with Alan Pardew already the darling of the press since his move back to London, it would have been unbearable watching it tonight if Palace had even came out of it with a draw.
Ian Wright would have been raving about what was happening at his old club with a manager who is now favourite for the England job, whilst poor Alan Shearer would have had to grin and bear it as charlatan Alan Pardew took centre stage.
Wearing number 72 (7+2 =9?), the 18 year old Nigerian substitute ensured that Match of The Day will be acceptable viewing tonight.
It will also be interesting to see just how much focus MOTD put on Alan Pardew’s latest indiscretion, as he had yet another go at Manuel Pellegrini after a bad challenge led to the Man City manager being less than happy after Aguero was forced off in the first half.
Any positive result for Palace would no doubt have been used as yet another stick to beat the ungrateful Newcastle supporters with, what with everything Alan Pardew did for us…
