Changes what changes? Steve McClaren hint at new look Newcastle v Watford proves minimal
Steve McClaren had said that it was on his mind to make major changes for Newcastle v Watford this afternoon but those changes have proved minimal.
Only Vurnon Anita has been left out as the Head Coach breaks up his defensive midfield pairing.
One positive is that a player who doesn’t produce goals or chances, has been replaced by Ayoze Perez, who does.
Other than that it is the same team that meekly lost to West Ham.
Newcastle line-up with:
Krul, Janmaat, Mbemba, Coloccini, Haidara, Colback, Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Perez, Wijnaldum, Cisse
On the bench:
Elliot, Lascelles, Williamson, Obertan, Anita, Aarons, de Jong
A lot of interest will focus on Papiss Cisse to see if he livens up today, whilst at least on paper he should get plenty of attacking support from Thauvin, Perez, Wijnadlum and Sissoko.
Rolando Aarons and Siem de Jong were the other two possibilities to change things in the final third, let’s hope they aren’t needed this afternoon.
