Monday night has brought news of a claimed move by Tottenham for Ayoze Perez.
According to The Mail, Spurs contacted Newcastle United about the player over the weekend.
They claim the North London club are prepared to pay up to £15m for the Spaniard who only cost £1.4m a year ago, when he made the move from the second tier of Spanish football.
The 22 year old made his first Premier League start of this season at Old Trafford and also started in the League Cup against Northampton, with his performances drawing much praise.
However, despite this Ayoze Perez was left out on Saturday, though he did get the final 18 minutes as a replacement for Vurnon Anita.
Last season, Perez was used in 36 of Newcastle’s 38 Premier League matches, despite being bought as ‘one for the future’.
The striker’s seven league goals arguably saved United from relegation, with Papiss Cisse only able to start 11 Premier League matches due to his ongoing knee problem.
No surprise if other clubs were interested in a young talent like Ayoze Perez but this one sounds a bit dubious, with Tottenham supposedly willing to pay £15m for a player who wouldn’t be an automatic first teamer.
