New signing Aleksandar Mitrovic says he has come to England because his dream is to play in the same style as Alan Shearer and Didier Drogba.
The Serbian striker believes if he works hard and achieves this, then he could become one of the ‘best strikers in Europe’.
The Newcastle forward says he is getting plenty chance to meet the locals and especially the taxi drivers of Tyneside as he hasn’t got a car.
He says they’ve made him feel very welcome though to understand the Geordie dialect he needs people to slow down a bit.
Aleksandar Mitrovic talking to the BBC:
“My dream is one day to play like Shearer and Drogba, in the same style, I know I have to do a lot of work every day.
“This is the Premier League, the best league in the world, I think I am going to learn a lot. First from Papiss (Cisse), from my other teammates – from the Premier League I am going to learn a lot and by next year I will be a better player.
“I think that maybe one day I am going to be one of the best strikers in Europe.”
You’ll never guess who I had in my cab:
“They (people in Newcastle) have welcomed me and I speak most with the taxi drivers because I haven’t got a car, they tell me all the best for the team and for the city.
“It (Geordie dialect) is difficult so you have to speak a little slowly for me to understand.”
