Wijnaldum joins Newcastle squad in Sacramento

Newcastle United play Sacramento Republic on Saturday night and earlier this (Thursday) morning Georginio Wijnaldum joined up with the 23 man squad who travelled out on Sunday.

Whilst United were losing 2-1 to Mexican side Club Atlas on Tuesday, Sunderland also tasted defeat when they went down 1-0 to Sacramento Republic.

This Friday sees the Mackems play at Bonney Field once again when they face Club de Fútbol Pachuca of Mexico, before 24 hours later Newcastle take the pitch against Sacremento.

The United match is a sell-out, thanks at least in part to the fact that the game is one of a number of friendlies that is included in the season ticket package for Sacramento Republic fans.

If any Newcastle fans are ticketless and still want to go, it may be worth still trying jdubois@sacrepublicfc.com to see if there is any late availability on tickets at the 11,000 capacity stadium.

If you can’t make the match then you can watch it live via this link, kick-off is 8pm local time and 4am (Sunday morning) in the UK (To watch Moussa Sissoko’s goal and the rest of the highlights from Tuesday’s match v Club Atlas go HERE).

The full 24 man squad now together in Sacramento is:

Goalkeepers: Karl Darlow, Freddie Woodman, Tim Krul,

Defenders: Fabricio Coloccini, Curtis Good, Jamaal Lascelles, Massadio Haidara, Daryl Janmaat, Steven Taylor, Mike Williamson

Midfielders: Rolando Aarons, Vurnon Anita, Gael Bigirimana, Gabriel Obertan, Jack Colback, Siem de Jong, Shane Ferguson, Yoan Gouffran, Moussa Sissoko, Georginio Wijnaldum (joining the squad later)

Strikers: Adam Armstrong, Papiss Cisse, Ayoze Perez, Emmanuel Riviere
