I have only ever given one answer to  the question of; ‘Which team do you follow’?

However, in the past week I have been forced to change that answer, because at the moment I don’t follow any team… at least on twitter that is.

Yes, the grand media and customer service gurus at Newcastle United have struck once again, this time I have been banned from following Newcastle United on twitter.

Now it’s safe to say that I have never quite been so confused about something in my life. Why would Newcastle United, the club I love, and the club I follow week in week out, all over Europe….

The club I spend thousands of pounds watching every year – why would they tell me that I am not allowed to follow them anymore?

My initial thought was that I must have said something out of turn to the club on twitter, however, a quick look through my tweets and relying on my memory, I came to the conclusion that I have not once tweeted Newcastle United.

So this must just be one almighty cock-up. No problem though, I will just contact the page administrator and email the club, so that this little mistake can be corrected in no time – after all how long does it take to type my name in and press unblock?

As of yet I have received no reply from Newcastle United via direct email, or even on their facebook page.

The only response I have had is from a polite man named Dan King, one of the three who run the Newcastle United twitter page. However, he has told me that they are simply too busy to care about my predicament at the moment.

So there you have it, after 15 years of following Newcastle United all over Europe, thousands spent on ticket and travel, hundreds spent in the club shop, and 30 years of working for the club by my Father and Grandfather… Newcastle United have told me that they do not wish for me to follow them anymore.

Who should I follow now?

James Park’…yet he never thought to mention this one…better give him a Tweet!!

  • KevinHarland

I can’t believe I wasted a few minutes of my life reading that drivel.

  • KeithLee

I dun know who you should follow now, but i for
    sure won’t follow you.

  • desree

is this The Mag or The Nag.

  • Demented_Man

They’re probably after blocking everyone who reads the Mag, apart from the sniffers of hippy gas on here.

Now, now, play nicely. Other clubs court thousands of Twitter followers. Ours has rarely showed much interest and there was an article a while back comparing social media efforts amongst Premier League clubs. Needless to say, we didn’t fare well. Jonathan’s within his rights to wonder it it’s just him who has been blocked or if something else is going on. I mean, it’s hardly beyond the realms of reason for the Ashley regime to act in a petty, spiteful or vindictive manner, is it?

  • potski

I was stuck in traffic the other day and I could see St James Park from my car. Those damn people who run the club didn’t do anything about it.

KevinHarland  Yes that drivel is a damning indictment of the way media social websites have taken over so many peoples lives in this modern world.
