On Wednesday, Anderlecht General Manager Herman Van Holsbeeck said that he expected the transfer of Chancel Mbemba to go through any time soon.

As Anderlecht unveiled Aleksandar Mitrovic’ replacement, Imoh Ezekiel, Holsbeeck had this to say on Chancel Mbemba:

“I expect very soon the transfer of Mbemba will get completed to Newcastle, then we (Anderlecht) can get two more players. You have to have some money if you want to get a top performer.”

On Thursday afternoon, Chancel Mbemba has been spotted and photographed (see below) leaving the Newcastle city centre Hotel Indigo.

@ScottHunt who works next door to the hotel at Bonbar, capturing the image and getting a thumbs up from the imminent Newcastle United signing.

Whilst Holsbeeck is keen to get the Mbebma deal done ASAP as Anderlecht start their league season on Sunday – Mark Douglas from the Chronicle has said he thinks the deal will be announced on Friday.

Herman Van Holsbeeck

“We go for players who can add value to this young Anderlecht.

“Of course it is ideal to start the competition with your whole heart but I knew with the transfers (Mitrovic and Mbemba leaving) which were on the agenda that this was impossible but we’ll be ready at the appropriate time.”

Well done to Fatman and his cronies; another 3 players of the same quality and he will have indeed bolted a horse onto the NUFC cart.

  • Kazie23

Add Anita along with Marveux in that group but I must say Williamson suits Crystal Palace alot!!!!!

  • dav_art

I hope it’s true.  You never know, more signings like this and we might get some positive articles from the regular contributors to this site.  I’m not holding out any hope though.

  • Ollie Burtons Grandad I have to say, even the ‘almost getting optimistic’ sense around many fans is ‘almost’ great to see :)

Three signings that signal intent to improve, three signings of exactly the quality we were after and three signings who have really impressed me with the way they’ve conducted themselves.  A huge step in the right direction by the club.  Hopefully McClaren is right and we are looking at a few more and we could be looking at a great window for the club.  I’m not getting carried away just yet, but certainly very impressed by the business done so far!

Can it really be that we only have one person at this club capable of working through the transfer process ? Other clubs can multi task so maybe Fatman keeps the keys to the petty cash tin ?
