Bristol City are the latest club to be linked with a move for Haris Vuckic.

Last season’s League One Champions are looking for a number of players to help them make the step up into the Championship, especially goalscorers.

With nine goals in 17 games on loan at Rangers, including some spectacular ones, Haris Vuckic has done himself the world of good in terms of the next move in his career.

The likes of Burnley, Cardiff City, Hull City and Bolton Wanderers have also been credited with an interest.

Vuckic turns 23 next month and has a year left on his Newcastle contract, he had said he was keen to fight for a place at United but the fact he wasn’t included in the squad that flew to America, appears to have confirmed he will be on the move soon.

Especially when players who have shown far less, such as Gael Bigirimana and Shane Ferguson were amongst those who travelled.

The 24 man squad who are touring America:

Goalkeepers: Karl Darlow, Freddie Woodman, Tim Krul,

Defenders: Fabricio Coloccini, Curtis Good, Jamaal Lascelles, Massadio Haidara, Daryl Janmaat, Steven Taylor, Mike Williamson

Midfielders: Rolando Aarons, Vurnon Anita, Gael Bigirimana, Gabriel Obertan, Jack Colback, Siem de Jong, Shane Ferguson, Yoan Gouffran, Moussa Sissoko, Georginio Wijnaldum (joining the squad later)

Strikers: Adam Armstrong, Papiss Cisse, Ayoze Perez, Emmanuel Riviere

Vuckic has been treated pretty poorly by the club. He’s lacking in pace but he’s not a bad player.

  • Jarmin Geordie

One of the hottest young prospects in Europe when we signed him, suffered a few injuries, but never rated by Pardew so totally overlooked in favour of Goffran etc.

  • macandmarge

Bad mistake to let him go

  • Geordieexpat

I agree, Vukic is a fantastic prospect and it’s a travesty he isn’t on the plane to the US. Whilst The Lads were rolling over at St James he was putting in some excellent performances (and goals!) north of the frontier. Hopefully we’ll see him in the colours for the remainder of pre season. If not then one club is going to get a cracking player.

  • Kazie23

I think he should leave because his career will get ruined if he remains with us

  • Big Al 1967

Probably the one player IMHO to come out of the Leicester cup tie with any credit yet that idiot Carver subbed him. Has been treated shabbily by NUFC and at no stage given a real chance. Would be sad to see him go

I read through that squad of players heading to the USA and I am not at all enthused by what they can offer the EPL this season. We look painfully thin in terms of harbouring a fit, proven and established starting eleven. One signing is nowhere near enough to galvanise this current squad, i sincerely hope the order of authority know what the f’k they are doing. I’m trying to be objective and to think positive and I’m struggling, am I the only one……?

I know this lad has been plagues by injury which certainly hasn’t helped is progression, but in terms of ball skills and overall potential, he was by far and away our best prospect in recent years.  Once again the club has showed zero intent to develop youth properly.  Let’s hope McClaren and Co are more up to the task than the previous incumbents.

The former regimes have woefully let down many a prospect.
A sad indictment and yet another missed opportunity for us to keep up with the likes of the Saints when it comes to the talent production line.
We have talent, we have it in abundance, but we lack the necessary skills to advance that talent from potential to actual.
I sincerely hope our new backroom staff implement the changes necessary to turn that part of our club around.
Lessons need to be learned and mistakes need to be rectified with immediate effect.
