Sunderland player Adam Johnson has appeared in court once again earlier today.
Wednesday morning saw the former England player appear at Durham Crown Court.
The 27 year old pleaded not guilty to a charge of grooming and three others of sexual activity with a child under the age of 16.
Released on conditional bail, Adam Johnson will return on 3 August for a plea and case management hearing, before appearing once again on 24 August for the scheduled trial date.
The grooming offence is said to have happened between December 2014 and February 2015, whilst the three counts of sexual activity relate to a single night in January at two locations in County Durham.
Sunderland bought Adam Johnson from Manchester City for £10m in 2012, having started his career at Middlesbrough.
