The Milwaukee Brewers baseball team have comfirmed that Newcastle United will play a friendly match at their Miller Park home.

The news comes after last month’s falling apart of a proposed tournament in Dallas where Newcastle were originally claimed to be one of the participants.

Mexican outfit Atlas Futbol Club will provide the opposition on 14 July and is only the second football match they have staged, Mexican side Chivas having previously played against Swansea last year.

The Milwaukee Brewers Chief Operating Officer Rick Schlesinger said:

“After the success of last year’s match, we are thrilled to bring world class professional soccer back to Miller Park.

“It is another great opportunity to showcase our facility’s unique ability to host a multitude of events.”

Tickets go on sale this Thursday 4 June.

The match is the first of Newcastle United’s pre-season friendlies to be confirmed.
