Lee Clark throws his hat into the Newcastle ring

Lee Clark has thrown his hat into the ring, in the hope of clinching a coaching role in the new set-up at St James Park.

With Steve McClaren expected to be announced as Newcastle’s new manager/head coach any time soon, the sackings of Steve Stone and John Carver have ensured there will be major changes in personnel.

Asked by the Shields Gazette about speculation regarding himself and his old club, Lee Clark said that he would love to be involved under Steve McClaren at the club he supported as a boy and of course played for.

Clarkie has already coached at Newcastle after being appointed to the role by Glenn Roeder back in 2006, when he was also still playing for NUFC.

Lee Clark:

“I don’t know whether it is speculation, or anything else.

“I am an ex-player at Newcastle and I have been a manager and a coach, but whether Steve wants me to be part of his set-up – we will just have to wait and see.”

Love to be part of it:

“For any lad who has been connected with the club, you would love to be part of it in any way, shape or form.

“For me, whether people are putting two and two together because I am out of work, I am not sure.”
