Former United player Remie Streete signed for Port Vale yesterday, in the process he has given Newcastle fans ideas of how to help inject some action into this so far barren transfer window.
With a number of clubs chasing the signature of the defender who was available on a free, his final decision was swayed by one important factor.

Speaking after signing a two year contract, Remie Streete said that he was bowled over by the amount of support he was getting on social media, with many Port Vale fans using Twitter to encourage the former loan player to sign for them permanently.
“I had a lot of support on Twitter from Port Vale fans and it just felt like they wanted me to come back as well which was nice.
“The main thing is the lure of playing football every week but it is nice to feel that the fans want you and want to see what you can do.”
Surely the challenge is now on, Newcastle fans need to get on Twitter and plead their case, I have prepared a few Twitter messages below which I am happy for you to send off to the player of your choice at no charge…
“Lionel, John Hall promised to make #NUFC the Barcelona of the north, your time has come”
“Dear Charlie (or insert whatever name), u have to come to #NUFC, Mike has promised everything is different now, please sign even if he offers you less wages and your club less money, we’ll love u until u get fed up and move to an ambitious club….”
“Come to the Toon Cristiano, we really loved u even when you played for that other United, we didn’t mean those nasty things we shouted at u, honest!”
“Please, anybody, please come to Newcastle, is there anybody out there, hello, hello….”
***PS Could be the latest end of transfer window way for Mike Ashley and Lee Charnley to blame the fans – we didn’t send players enough Twitter messages to get them over the line!
