One of the few success stories of the 2014/15 season, Newcastle United defender Daryl Janmaat says that moving to Tyneside was the right decision and St James Park is where he wants to be.
As well as being Newcastle’s best defender by a country mile, nobody created more goals than the Dutch international.
Daryl Janmaat ending up with Six Premier League assists which was the same as teammate Jack Colback, the next highest was a feeble two from a number of players.
However, as well as saying how much he wants to be at Newcastle United, Daryl Janmaat also summed out how bad things were last season, saying he had to wait until that very final match against West Ham to see for himself how good the atmosphere can be at St James Park.
Daryl Janmaat speaking to the official club website:
“This is where I want to be and signing for Newcastle was definitely the right decision.
“I have learnt a lot over the past year, I have played almost every game in the league and have really enjoyed it. I believe in myself and knew I could play over here and at this level, so it wasn’t a surprise.”
Win a few more at home:
“Before I signed, I heard all about the supporters and the noise inside the stadium, on that day (last home match v West Ham) I got to really experience it, they were brilliant.
“We have to make St. James’ Park a place that is not nice for opponents to come. It is such a fantastic stadium but by winning more games at home the atmosphere will get better and that will help everybody.”
“There are lots of things already in place for this Club to be a big one in the Premier League again, that’s why I am so happy that we managed to stay up.
“This season we have a chance to push on and have a much better season.”
