The people behind the Ashley Out campaign have launched their latest initiative this Monday morning.

In the statement below, the Ashley Out organisers ask all fans who are supportive of the capaign to rid Newcastle United of Mike Ashley, to get behind their multi-pronged attack on the rotten regime.

The idea is to restrict as much as humanly possible the money that Mike Ashley generates via Newcastle United, as well as making clear to sponsors and other businesses associated with NUFC at the present time, just what a negative relationship it is by being associted with the club and its owner at this moment in time.

The AshleyOut.com Embargo Statement

#AshleyEmbargo

AshleyOut.com urge all fans of Newcastle United, and indeed any other football fan who sympathises with our cause, to participate in an embargo on all of Mike Ashley’s businesses and those who have associated themselves with our club.

This will be a permanent and extensive embargo until Mike Ashley has cut all his ties with our club. It is an act of defiance that EVERY fan around the globe can participate in and every fan can choose the extent to which they participate.

It is clear that Ashley’s sole motivation is money. The decisions he has made in line with this have been to the detriment of the team, the welfare of the fans and the club’s heritage. This damage will continue while the loyalty of our fanbase is exploited.

In the five years since Mike Ashley made any contribution to the club, our fanbase has spent £123m on match days alone. It is time for us to stop financing what has become nothing more than his shop’s advertising vehicle.

AshleyOut.com is an all-inclusive, UNITED movement against one man only. We refuse to criticise any fan for their dedication to the club and we refuse to tell any fan what they must do. However, we ask every fan, what can you sacrifice to ensure Mike Ashley gets not a penny more?

We urge all fans to use and share the information about how to cancel season tickets, restrict spending at the club, avoid the many businesses and brands under embargo and use instead the alternatives presented here on AshleyOut.com.

We want to ensure as little of our hard earned money as possible finds its way to Mike Ashley either directly or indirectly.

We also wish to press upon the business partners of Ashley that their business interests are also under embargo from Newcastle United fans until they cut ties with him.

An embargo is not a particularly visible protest, nor does it immediately satisfy the desire to show your anger and be heard.

However, it is a long-term, attritional battle that will hasten Ashley’s exit from our club as his association becomes a toxic drain on his resources rather than ours.

AshleyOut.com needs your help.  If you have any further information, requests or suggestions in this area please let us know at [email protected]

    NUFCTheMag mickquinn1089 Time to #boycottsportsdirect

  • Greekgeordie

Total negative and bound to fail, Ashley will never be affected by what you lot are saying or do, enjoye the football, the Roller Coaster that always has been our team, and leave the politics to the politicians, SD is a large company and Newcastle United a very small percentage of their Capital.
    Finally Grow Up.

  • GEddy039

toonleader NUFCTheMag mickquinn1089 sorry toon leader your tweet makes no sense. Are you saying Ashley offers hope?

  • toonleader

GEddy039 NUFCTheMag mickquinn1089 I am saying I think he will spend big this summer, and he us on a sound financial footing !

  • tynetalk21

As long as you persist with anonymity you are wasting everyones time .

  • wor monga

If Ashley was to walk away after the public announcement he
made prior to the West ham game he would lose a lot of credibility in the
business world which would be very hard for him to live down…and for that
reason alone he won’t do it.

The money he receives from the TV is what matters for clubs
now…anything else is icing on the top and that’s exactly how clubs with much smaller
support bases than we have can compete with us, as long as they maintain their PL
status. If there’s a drastic drop in renewals then he will probably come up
with cheap offers, buy one seat and get 50% of another one type of thing…the
possibilities are enormous for him because, as I say, it is not the vital
source of income for the running of the club any more.

All any reduction in that part of the club’s income, would only mean probably  even less being directed into the amount going towards
    transfers,etc.

  • NUFCinnocent

    NUFCTheMag mickquinn1089 – give it a rest ffs #AshleyOut

  • Sickandtiredstill

@toonleader NUFCTheMag mickquinn1089 How the fook does Ashleys hand feed us exactly? He’s starved the club of real investment – not a single penny of his own spent since we came back up and everything he has spent has been transferred to a club debt!

    FFS man, get real.

  • Sickandtiredstill

Greekgeordie Which part of anything do you actually understand? SD doesn’t own the Club you moron, though it most certainly ‘significantly benefits’ from it, as Ashley said himself.

  • LeazesEnder

tynetalk21 There are no ego’s to attach to the campaign, just desire.

  • v0ices

wor monga more gibberish how can a club with a smaller support base compete support equals income a properly run large club will always have more income than a properly run small club. mike ashley has a poor reputation in the business world as the man is a proven liar.

  • fireflyuk

Greekgeordie Enjoy the football! What have you been watching for the last 12 months? and surely a rollercoaster has its ups as well as downs, we are more of a corkscrew head downwards. As for your “negative and bound to fail” comment, you’re probably right if we have fans that are happy to be treated with the contempt we have experienced so far, but we can at least try, the Ashley out campaign is already showing benefits, we got the man to talk to the TV even if it was through gritted teeth, and he had to make statements which if he doesn’t stand by will show him to be a bigger liar than most NUFC fans already believe he is, and if he does stand by them then it was a total success. You DON’T have to do anything but don’t knock what other people who are extremely unhappy are tying to do.

  • fireflyuk

@toonleader NUFCTheMag mickquinn1089 Ashley making a rare TV appearance shows he gives a stuff, not about the club but about his reputation.

  • LeazesEnder

wor monga Credibility in the business world …. he’s detested by the business world!

  • fireflyuk

@toonleader GEddy039 NUFCTheMag mickquinn1089 What do you consider as ‘Big’?

  • LeazesEnder

fireflyuk NUFCTheMag mickquinn1089 That would be his reputation as a benefactor and humanitarian?

  • LeazesEnder

    Greekgeordie I didn’t understand a word of that….

  • cavste

FFS toonleader what planet are you from
    SMB

  • fireflyuk

LeazesEnder wor monga Credibility and being detested are two different things.

  • fireflyuk

LeazesEnder fireflyuk NUFCTheMag mickquinn1089 Aye, something like that.

  • SGM

The protests are futile, and wont make a blind bit of difference.
other than staining the club that belongs to true supporters.

  • Tony79

tynetalk21 The most pointless, false and ridiculous comment so far.

That the group are anonymous has had no bearing on the success or otherwise of the protests.  Waste of a sentence mate

  • grumpyget

NUFCTheMag mickquinn1089 I agree toonleader, stupid embargo. Will they stop buying clothes as well? He owns half the shops in town.

  • Tony79

@toonleader NUFCTheMag mickquinn1089 Ashley might feed you, not me mate.

  • Tony79

@GEddy039 toonleader NUFCTheMag mickquinn1089 Ashley might feed you, not me mate

  • Tony79

@toonleader GEddy039 NUFCTheMag mickquinn1089 Dividing real fans along lines of want to protest or not s the real destructive thing

  • Deltic13

I’m pretty sure some of the comments on here are from people who actually work for Ashley or have a vested interest in Ashley. Hmmm something fishy me thinks.

  • Morpethmag

    “EXACTLY””””””

  • Morpethmag

Ashley only feeds himself,,,take a look at his gut,,,,,,,

  • Americanmag

Will they give up the sky package- I gather Ashley trousers a bit from them

  • SGM

Tony79 SGM  I don’t personally think it was anything to do with protests, more like the predicament the club and the owner found themselves in.

  • fireflyuk

    Americanmag I already have.

  • wor monga

LeazesEnder         Well Leazesender…I’ve always found if you publicly indicate
your intentions, or admit to errors happening on your ‘watch’ which can come
back to haunt you, and then allow them to happen again…you don’t last long in
the business (or any) world…Ashley wouldn’t be where he is today if he didn’t
    know that…

…far better to do what he’s always done and say nowt!!

  • Americanmag

Good for you!! It’s kinda complicated here in America but I do my best as well I gave up the toon many years ago when the entertainment was as cold and raw as the North East winters! Sadly when I do get back setting foot in sjp isn’t a priority but best of luck to them in the torrid era ahead

  • wor monga

v0ices         You obviously don’t know how much the club takes in from the
TV deals, v0ices…look it up and then just compare it with how much a PL club
takes in from (what is now more like) ‘sundries’ such as ticket sales etc…you’ll
see exactly how a club with half of our support can compete with us.

  • Sickandtiredstill

SGM Tony79 They didn’t ‘find’ themselves in anything.
8 years of systemic failings by Ashley is the cause, and another relegation battle was the third under his ownership.
He has stated or promised nothing new. Any talk of winning or CL qualification was exactly the same drivel he gave in his statement of 2008 and Llambias spouted afterwards.

    .

  • Sickandtiredstill

wor monga v0ices and proves what an absolute sham it is to say we need to ‘punch our weight’ let alone above it.

  • fireflyuk

SGM Who are these true supporters? How will I recognise them? Are they the ones sitting quietly in the stadium? Or the ones trying to make their voices heard during the game? Are they the ones boycotting each game in protest? Or are they sitting at home watching the game on TV or listening to it on the radio because they have had enough of the circus that is NUFC and out of pure desperation can’t bare to see our slow painful demise under Ashley but can’t walk away completely? Can you clarify this as you seem to know, at least then I will know where I stand.

  • wor monga

Sickandtiredstill      Look Sickie man…every interested person in the Toon knows
all that ancient history stuff…we’ve been told it that many times by yourself (and
    the other AO party officials)…
…so why not wait and tell us about the new ‘embargos’
(is boycott last seasons word?) when the transfer window has been and gone…and see
what we’re going into the new season with!!

  • Sickandtiredstill

wor monga Sickandtiredstill Ancient history? The bloody season from hell just ended and fatty’s comments were given only a few weeks ago.
Aye, just keep on waiting and seeing. Works a treat that.

  • Gordonthetoony

fireflyuk Americanmag  I did too. Have watched virtually all of last seasons matches Live on the Internet.

  • v0ices

wor monga v0ices so glad you consider over 20million a sundey amount

  • wor monga

    Sickandtiredstill

… I…don’t expect any embargos on the club will make any
difference…just like the boycott before it didn’t…for the simple reason after
the summer break we will be ready to see football here again, and nobody really
expects us to have made signings that will have miraculously turned us into a
    top 5 side…

…but realistically we will expect to be better in those positions that
are glaringly not good enough for any competent PL side…

…However if people have any doubts about what they are
signing up to…and will be paying for…then at least credit them with enough ability
to make their own mind up on that…instead of thinking that only you are qualified to do that for them!!

  • wor monga

v0ices        …That figure is a ‘sundry’ amount v0ices…when taken in
    comparison with the TV monies…

…like I said look it up, and remember lots of PL
clubs with much smaller attendances than us can enjoy the full benefits of it now…

  • mentalman

Let’s say this embargo actually works and the £123million doesn’t get spent will this have any effect on mike Ashley, the money will come out of the club not ma’s pocket it’d just end up in even less investment

  • prestondave

LeazesEnder Greekgeordie its all greek to me.

  • v0ices

wor monga v0ices but they still have lower incomes even with ashley handing the profits from the club shop to SD and the free SD advertising.

  • Wait and shteve

    Exactly, let’s wait and shteve

  • Wait and shteve

Wow, that was one of the most uninspiring craziest rambles I have ever had the displeasure of deciphering, cheers

  • Sickandtiredstill

mentalman What 123 million? If you want to provide some sort of opinion then at least begin by knowing what you’re talking about.

  • fireflyuk

mentalman even LESS investment. Is that possible?

  • Sickandtiredstill

wor monga Sickandtiredstill Aye, so basically what you are saying is you will go and carry on going regardless of what he or any one else does to the Club.

Some of us feel different to that. I’m no more qualified than you – however I do like making sure people state facts wherever possible instead of the often inane and moronic drivel some on here come out with.

And, I have no clue why you ‘realistically’ believe this Club is going to do anything rational. Considering we have been in the Championship for a season, and fought three relegation battles out of his 8 years here, you have a degree of ‘optimism’ which doesn’t really match the facts.

  • SGM

fireflyuk SGM Look up the word Supporter in the dictionary, then look up the word Fan (fanatic) and categorise yourself.
Personally i’m a supporter, a supporter of those that wear the “Black and White” not necessarily the board.
I’m not a great fan of MA. or the way he runs the club, but he bought it outright, with his own money, and has the right to run it as he sees fit, hopefully he will see the error of his ways and get it right.
I don’t agree in protesting because I truly believe it has a detrimental effect on the players and other innocent parties at the club.

  • fireflyuk

SGM fireflyuk You are the one who seems to be categorising the fan base, I thought you were some kind of expert.

Using your logic if Ashley bought a National Trust property are you suggesting that you would be happy with him running it how he wants? Stick some SD boards everywhere and get a bunch of cowboys to run it, maybe sell off the good paintings and stick some Wilko specials up. I am assuming your answer would be no.

In my eyes a football club is just the same, and the owner has a responsibility to preserve its heritage and to ensure it is fit for purpose.

I would suggest the disgraceful way the club is being run has a greater detrimental effect than anything protesting fans could ever have, and if we are not happy how else could we express this when the club refuse to communicate with us?

  • DavidDrape

i fully support this strategy and i am interested to know his connection with Debenhams. he did own 18% for a whole but i can’t find out if he still has it. my wife shops at debenhams and i need to find out. can anyone help
