Who do you think should be in the Newcastle team v QPR?

John Carver has said he is taking a squad of 21 to QPR for this weekend’s match.

This would appear to be the following 18 who were on duty against West Brom:

Krul, Anita, Coloccini, Dummett, Gutierrez, Colback, Ryan Taylor, Sissoko, Perez, Riviere, Cabella, Cisse, Ameobi, Abeid, Woodman, Satka, Aarons, Gouffran.

Then with the addition of Daryl Janmaat returning from suspension, plus  John Carver confirming Gabriel Obertan is in the squad once again – whether he was injured or not is unknown.

The 21st member of the squad would appear to be either 18 year old French midfielder Olivier Kemen who has featured on the bench a few times, or the elusive Facundo Ferreyra who has played the last five or six reserve matches.

Those definitely missing appear to be Williamson, Armstrong, de Jong, Steven Taylor, Tiote, Haidara, Alnwick and Elliot.

I predict the line-up and formation below.

newcastle team v qpr

To create the image above I used the NUFC team selector.

You can do the same by following the simple instructions HERE and then there are a number of great options where you can then also share your team via Twitter (include @nufcthemag in your tweet and we will share some of the teams you put up with our 13k+ followers) , or you can share the selector on Facebook with friends, family and the rest of the black and white world. Alternatively, simply downloading the team image to the device you are using

When using the NUFC team selector you simply click on what team formation (4-3-3, 4-4-2 etc) you want, then click each position on the pitch and choose from the Newcastle United squad.

Go to the NUFC team selector now and choose and share your Newcastle team v QPR.

Before every match, simply go to the menu at the top of this screen and click features, then on the drop down list click NUFC Team Selector and choose your team for every match.

Absolutely not for me. That line up is silly.
Ryan Taylor should be in at left back. Cabella on the left flank. Obertan out on the right. Abeid and Sissoko in the middle with Perez and Cisse up top.

  • Porciestreet

We know that Riviere struggles to find the toilet so why not put Aarons in..? The kid is bustin to show what he’s got.

  • Dubaiexpat

    What an odd team.

No way will he pay all 3 out of Perez, Cisse, and Manu.

Will be one up top – hopefully Cisse with three behind in Cabella, Perez and Sissoko. Colback and Guti in the middle. Anita, Dummy, Colo, and Janmaat across the back with Krul in nets.

Aarons has to start even if he comes off at half time. The boy is fearless and will push qpr back all the way. Get him in behind and he will get something. Need to use wingers with aarons and cabella or obertan. Keep the middle tight with sissoko and colback get cisse and perez up top.

Interesting suggestion below to play Obertan. In the olden days, Supermac was very fast. He NEVER went back to defend a corner. He stood on the centre spot and the opposition had to have two defenders to watch him, so that took a player out of the game. Jack Charlton took Alan Foggon, a mediocre striker at NUFC, but a champion sprinter, played him at Middlesboro to use his speed and he became top scorer in the league. Why don’t Newcastle leave at least one player (I suggest Obertan who is fast) on the centre spot when they are ‘defending’ a corner? I should have been a manager.

    And Colback?

  • Double Carpet

No. Aaron’s to come on for the last 20 when players are tiring and the game opens up a bit. If plays from the start, not being match fit, he’ll struggle.

  • Paul Patterson

    Fair point. Drop Sissoko then.

The last 20 mins we could be 2 or 3 down. !!!

  • Double Carpet

We could be, but that won’t be because Aaron’s isn’t playing, it will be because, as usual, our ‘defenders’ can’t/won’t defend.

  • Double Carpet

Agree with you, there. He’s been a waste of space for the past 3 months. Owes us a performance.

  • jimblag

To be fair if that team can’t beat QPR then we FULLY deserve relegation, doesn’t look bad on paper.

Just seen the team sheet. Wat a shower of s**te. No aarons or cisse to start. Riviere up there again. Seems like he doesnt want us to start like a hotrod.
Saints 5-0 up at half time. We will be lucky to be 1 all again with that team.

After looking at the team above to the one Carver has chosen I know which I prefer and it isn’t the one from the Premier leagues best coach

  • tino o

Absolutely sh!The can’t believe what I’ve just seen krul is useless! Cost us again

  • Toon Magpie

    Best manager in league.

  • Toon Magpie

We will have to go down twice and I think Carver will still think he is best in league. Carver can’t play defensively, he is unable to grind out results even draws would have made us safe if he played defensively, but he thinks he can play attacking football with this team. HE IS DELUDED.
