Newcastle United’s most valuable players

Who are Newcastle United’s most valuable players?

Who would you keep above the rest?

I have gone through the whole of the Newcastle United squad to try and be positive, see which players can be the starting point to build on for the (hopefully) credible new manager that will come in this summer.

It wasn’t easy and much of it was on a wing and a prayer that I managed to come up with 13 players that I would like to keep.

Some like Siem de Jong and Rolando Aarons we have little to go on.

Others such as Cheick Tiote and Tim Krul you have to put a lot of faith in that they can bounce back to their best form.

Then some such as Moussa Sissoko you must hope they can be as bothered as he looked on that final day of the season, rather than much that had gone before.

These are the 13 in the order that I would be most gutted if they left:

Ayoze Perez

Daryl Janmaat

Papiss Cisse

Siem de Jong

Moussa Sissoko

Jack Colback

Cheick Tiote

Tim Krul

Rolando Aarons

Jonas Gutierrez

Massadio Haidara

Adam Armstrong

Paul Dummett

As for the rest…

To be quite honest they could load pretty much most of these into a skip and cart them off but being realistic we can’t hope to get rid of them all at once.

Some such as Mehdi Abeid and one or two others could maybe do a job if given the chance and/or found some confidence or managed a step up thanks to some decent coaching.

Again in order of who I’d keep first, or looking at the other direction, Rob Elliot would be the first one chucked in the skip:

Mehdi Abeid

Sylvain Marveaux

Fabricio Coloccini

Haris Vuckic

Remy Cabella

Steven Taylor

Sammy Ameobi

Ryan Taylor

Mike Williamson

Emmanuel Riviere

Gabriel Obertan

Yoan Gouffran

Vurnon Anita

Rob Elliot
