Newcastle United have been scouting Lewis Cook with a view to a summer transfer according to reports this morning.

Aston Villa are also reported to have been keeping a close eye on the teenager who has been outstanding for Leeds this season in the Championship.

Making his debut as a substitute in the first league game of the season, the defensive midfielder has since gone from strength to strength and played almost every game, featuring in 38 of Leeds United’s matches this campaign.

However, if he did  happen to move to Tyneside then it’s unlikely he would help out with the major goalscoring problem at Newcastle, Cook has failed to score in any of those 38 games.

Cook only turned 18 in February and despite his youth and diminutive 5ft 7 frame, he has more than held his own in a tough physical division.

The Telegraph report that Newcastle are looking to concentrate on young British talent this summer and see Lewis Cook as a bright prospect.

However, picking up homegrown players isn’t easy and this was proved when Newcastle’s pursuit of Milton Keynes Dons’ Dele Alli was ended by the player deciding to sign instead for Spurs earlier this season.

Leewis Cook has featured for both England’s Under 17s and Under 19s, picking up a winners medal alongside Adam Armstrong when the pair helped England win the Under 17 European Championships last summer in Malta.

We sign him amongst a fanfare.  Another one for the future of a club with no future under this fat pig,.  What is the point……….? no wonder the fanbase is dejected.
    HWTF………..Fat Ash out.

FFS – we need experienced First Team players!
Oh sorry – forgot that the only policy is to buy with a view to selling for profit. Nothing else.

I’m a Leeds fan and Lewis Cooke will play for England one day he is the best youngster we have had since Woodgate and our fan base will go potty if we lose him to anyone.

Close enough to us to see all our dirty linen being aired, too.
If he’s that good and ends up here in the present environment, then he’s incredibly badly advised.

Is this Tiote’s replacement then ?

The success of Perez coming through has given the green light to these kind of signings this summer.
I’m expecting to be linked to many more before the summer is over.
