Newcastle United have announced earlier today that they have extended the season ticket renewal deadline by a couple of weeks.

Supporters whose tickets were up for renewal this summer, now have until Wednesday 10 June to renew.

Many supporters took Mike Ashley’s surprise TV appearance on Sunday as evidence of a desperate attempt to arrest a massive drop in season ticket renewals.

However, today’s deadline extension suggests that the owner’s words haven’t caused a last minute stampede this week.

The fact that the renewal packs were sent out way back in March, surely tells you that if somebody was renewing then they would have done it by now.

Unless of course they were waiting for a sign of major changes for the better at the club, rather than empty words…

The fact that Mike Ashley’s interview has been followed up with nothing in the way of action, will lead most to question exactly what , if anything, will change,

With plenty of seats to choose from these days, why would you feel pressured into moving quickly now to renew?

I just hope more and  more fans will hold off getting season tickets and if possible just pay match by match if they are going to keep going.

For too long Mike Ashley has had it too easy and just maybe thousands of fans refusing to renew this summer could be just the thing to force him into belated positive action.

Although maybe you do believe the club propaganda?

Included in the club statement to season ticket holders it said:

“…supporters are advised to return their forms quickly to avoid disappointment.”

Prepare to be disappointed one way or another!

  • kuromori

It was a typo. It was meant to have said, ““…supporters are advised to return their forms quickly to ensure disappointment.”

  • Sickandtiredstill

Hahahahahaha! I just posted that on another article. Aye, his interview on Sunday was heartfelt and ambitious – he wants you to renew your ST’s!

  • Kevin Halliday

Stay strong Geordies. Don’t do it. P*ss the fatman off.

  • magpiefifer

    What a joke!!
He is obviously expecting the loyalty factor to play right into his hands – again! Sadly, too many will/have renew/ed their season tickets in the vain hope that things will change for the better – hate to disappoint, but we are talking about Ashley, and this leopard will NOT change it’s spots!!!
I just hope that the events of last season (plus most of the others since 2007) will have persuaded enough fans to give up their renewals and show Ashley – and the rest of the country – that Toon fans are not zipped up the back!!!!

  • Emmett Gill

Also, as well as p***ing Ashley off, remember that it’s not enjoyable anymore. It’s almost a chore. Why pay money for something which is a chore?

  • Kevin Halliday

    Agreed Emmett.

  • “…supporters are advised to return their forms quickly to avoid disappointment.”
The best way to avoid disappointment is to throw the forms in the bin.

  • Andgeo

We want a proper manager ASAP and a significant change in transfer policy numb nuts!!!!!

  • TelBoyTelboy

If its McClaren I give up.

  • Andgeo

Is anybody else getting seriously irritated by the chronicle/ryder pro carver spin??? He’s useless, get over it!! I prefect next season being a total disaster already. We are gonna be lumbered with carver and a squad of average misfits.

  • GToon

I wish I knew how to support Newcastle and avoid disappointment. Well Ashley, you have until June 10th then. Hahaha.

  • alreet

Laudrup or no season tickets. Get the man we want or suffer.

  • Polarboy

Is it too much to hope that this means there will be significant changes by the end of next week.

  • truemagpie

In 4 days it’s gonna be the 6th month since Pardew left.
Does anyone knows any other club who took more than 6 months to appoint a permanent manager/head coach?? Anyone?

  • foggy

Its being reported that Derby County are about to sign up Paul Clement as their next manager.
Its only taken Derby 7 f in days whilst the toss pot Charnley has taken near on 6 MONTHS and still he’s no closer to getting a decent manager.
If Ashley / Charnley and co want to sell more season tickets then ffs get a good manager through the door and do it now.

  • prestondave

Well, if ever you were unsure as to the FCB intentions then you can see it now surely?. I’ve heard of misguided loyalty but this is ridiculous. On a massive scale. No wonder people think we are thick and deluded because what certain fans are doing by renewing without fatty doing a single thing to change anything proves what people think about us is right. Shame on you sheep because you are destroying NUFC for the rest of us. Empty words, empty promises, empty trophy cabinet, empty ambition,. I hope this leads to empty seats and the football world turn on the sickness that is fat Ashley.

  • Chris Usher

So thats why he did his speech on TV more false promises trying to sell season tickets when we havn’t even chose a manager yet and he wonders why we havn’t renewed it!!

  • Conman

That PR stunt on Sunday should sway nobody. Unfortunately, it wil

  • Conman

. That PR stunt on Sunday should sway nobody. Unfortunately, it will.
We have still no idea of a manager 5 months after starting to look. He should have been in and running the day after the season finished. The whole thing is a joke and still the sheep flock.
Shame on you all. Grow some balls and see this greedy dictator off.

  • Hughie

Charnley not Ashley. Charnley’s DITHERING is costing the club dear. Charnley out!!

  • Conman

    Get ready to give up

  • DavidDrape

well said re ”Pay as you go fans” he gets no money up front

  • Pedrothegreat

I think once Charnley pulls his finger out and shows some intent by appointing a decent coach, nobody will renew their tickets and rightly so, if the club is going to dither, I think its fair the fans dither. Charnley has had since December to get a coach lined up, and still nothing. I think he is hoping we come around to the idea off Carver and its not going to happen. I have to say Charnley is by far the worse MD this club has ever had, his decisions have been shocking, and he hasn’t even apologised for it, at least Ashley had the gumption to speak on the matter.

  • magpiefifer

Hughie  Ashley is the one pulling Charnley’s strings!!

  • magpiefifer

Pedrothegreat  ‘Gumption’ – it was planned to fool fans into believing that Ashley has ambition.More fool anyone who believed him.

  • wor monga

Why would anybody coming up for renewal want to do that before the club
were assured of what division they would be playing in next season?…allowing
them more time to renew was the fairest move…after PL survival was assured!!

  • KevinBrown11

I’d never come around to the idea of carver full time, his record in PL and handling of the players we’re bordering on criminal, he should be made to read all the forums it might sink in he’s not wanted, but doubt it tho,

  • Hughie

Exactly ….so c’mon Ashley…get him out, and reduce the risk of not attaining “pound for pound value” as you are striving to do!!

  • Porciestreet

magpiefifer Pedrothegreat Just nobody hold your breath in waiting for fatty to deliver on anything cos there’s going to be an awfull lot of dead Geordies about if you do…..I said just after his statement on Sunday that I thought it was only a bribe to get fans to renew S/Ts but now following the hiatus in comunication since the weekend, don’t be at all surprised if Carver keeps his position.
I hope I have to apologise for my cynisism but hey, who knows eh  !
                         HWTF…..Ashley out.

  • Porciestreet

Conman Even 2nd 3rd and 4th division clubs have already replaced their managers to good efect already so why do we struggle to get our new man over the line…unless……we didn’t even ask anyone yet…… Groundhog day again..!

  • Porciestreet

1957 Unless……..He already knew his “fate” before he left……! There is something extremely smelly on the carpet my friends and you don’t ned me to tell you what it is………………HWTF.

  • Porciestreet

GToon There’s no such remedy. If  yr born around the toon youv got this disease for the rest of yr life. It’s not terminal, but it is like living next to 5under1and, you can’t get rid of it.

  • Sickandtiredstill

    Porciestreet GToon Hahaha, good one!

  • delashio

The season has just finished so they will be speaking to potential managers now. Its not something they could do when people still had games to play and its not something that happens over night so just calm down. Theres more time to renew so you know who the manager will be so thats got to be a good thing for gods sake.
