Michael Owen hopes he is wrong but he thinks Newcastle United will lose at Loftus Road this afternoon.

The former NUFC striker claims he wants to see his old club stay in the Premier League but can’t see them beating even the bottom of the table team due to their appalling form.

With Newcastle away from home in today’s clash, Michael Owen has predicted a 1-0 or 2-1 win for QPR in his column for Colossus Bets.

If that’s the case, a win for Hull City at White Hart Lane would put Newcastle in the bottom  three with one match to play.

“QPR were playing one of the best teams in the country on Sunday.

“This is the same Newcastle side who were beaten 5-0 by Man City and who only managed to break that series of eight losses with a home 1-1 draw against West Brom.”

Newcastle can’t be favourites:

“I can’t have Newcastle being favourites away from home to any side at the moment and I take QPR to win either 2-1 or 1-0.

“I hope I’m wrong but, for all QPR’s performance at Man City, my gut feeling is that they(Newcastle) will lose this game, so poorly are they playing at present.”

Thoughts go back to that 2008/09 relegation season and Michael OWen only scored 8 goals in 28 Premier League appearances.

On the final stretch he was totally anonymous (like many of his teammates) and the last goal he scored that season was on 10 January 2009, over four months from the end of the season.

Sadly, seeing a good few of our current players takes you back to the lack of effort and dedication shown by Owen, Viduka, Geremi and others in that disastrous season.

Let’s hope Michael Owen is proved wrong this afternoon.

  • Kris Suddick

No, he let his wage fund his horses

  • A lex

It has to be admitted that, on this occasion, Owen has a point.

  • LeazesEnder

The boys at the Chronicle have run a series of articles over the last few days…. bizarrely designed to stir up QPR….

…. You never can predict outcomes like this,  but they ain’t helping themselves…. or us!

    What are they for?

  • John Watson

Thought it wouldn’t be long before Frodo chipped in

  • David Hodgson

I think he’s right, though. Our form is appealing.

  • Mark Nicholson

    Hope you meant appaling Dave

  • David Hodgson

    I did, mate U0001f629

  • Toon Magpie

Owen was right it ended 2-1. The club really is in a state, even Owen is right.
