Most fans assumed that Papiss Cisse was going to be available for the final three games of the season, once his suspension ended after tomorrow’s game at Leicester.
However, yesterday it emerged that the striker was still under the care of the medical staff at Newcastle and was yet to join in training with the team. This follows the removal of a screw and clean up work during his suspension, that related to his original operation.
As the season ends in 22 days time it looked bleak for the chances of fans seeing Cisse back on the pitch this season, however John Carver is putting a positive spin on things.
“He (Papiss Cisse) is quite positive about this whole situation, so don’t let us write him off.
“He has been really positive about it and it might be that we have to use him like Siem de Jong – in the last 20 minutes or half an hour – coming off the bench and getting in that six yard box to score the winning goal for us.”
We’ll not do anything stupid…:
“We might have to use him in that way, but what we are not going to do is to put him at risk, put his health at risk by doing something stupid.
“The one thing that I will say is that when he was playing, you could see and it was blatantly obvious to everyone, that he had a little bit of an issue with a limp. The limp has gone now and so that is good news.”
I must say Papiss Cisse’s limp passed me by, he still looked to be moving faster than most of his teammates, though there again that wasn’t difficult!
