A number of journalists were left feeling a bit foolish after they claimed that John Carver has been sacked by Newcastle United.
On Monday morning Sky Sports had reported that ‘Potentially some big news coming out of Newcastle’s training ground this morning’.
Following that, it was then stated that Managing Director Lee Charnley had arrived at the trraining ground and was having a meeting with John Carver.
As Newcastle fans waited to see what the outcome of that meeting had been, various journalists and media organisations then put up ‘breaking news’ announcements on Twitter, saying that John Carver had been sacked.
Though most didn’t reveal their sauce/source it appears that the premature reporting of the Newcastle Head Coach packing his bags, came from this spoof (see below) Sky Sports Twitter account.
The slight clue should have been the fact there were only 163 followers and only 16 Tweets sent out.
