At his Thursday press conference ahead of the trip to QPR, John Carver has revealed that Siem de Jong and Adam Armstrong aren’t fit enough to travel.
Armstrong picked up a knock in the reserve match at West Brom earlier this week, whilst de Jong was always struggling to play a significant part in the relegation struggle due to his seemingly never ending injury problems.
As for the return of Gabriel Obertan to the squad…
The Newcastle Head Coach also said that he felt Rangers boss Chris Ramsey deserves to keep the job long-term.
Newcastle United released the following quotes from today’s press conference:
“There are one or two character in the QPR team with a point to prove. They will want to finish the season on a high.
“Chris Ramsey is a good guy and a good coach. Hopefully he will get the QPR job next season. He deserves it.”
“The spirit has been good and upbeat but we are not taking our eye off the ball. There is a huge job ahead of us.
“Siem de Jong and Adam Armstrong aren’t available for Saturday. Gaby Obertan comes back in to a squad of 21 which will travel.”
Obertan last got on the pitch when a second half substitute against Tottenham a month ago, where he was less than impressive.
Sitting on the bench and not called into action for the Swansea game that followed, Obertan didn’t even make the bench against both Leicester and West Brom.
