I’ll make a surprise statement by saying that I do actually think the team played with some conviction today, whatever their personal motivations. Obviously that comes with the caveat that if they had done that in the last 8 matches we might not be a point above the trap door.

Jonas and Anita both put in good shifts, Taylor was committed if somewhat limited, Colback had a bit of a stinker, and everyone else did ok. I thought the defence look much more solid without Willo, no surprise, and young Dummet had an unspectacular but efficient game.

Much improved from last week, but the worry being that is probably the best those players can do. Maybe it will be good enough, maybe not.

Next weekend against QPR, and with the Mackems playing on form Leicester will be the make or break regarding relegation. My feeling about the comparative merits of relegation remain unchanged.

Bit surprised Krul’s rating isn’t a bit higher given the saves he made. Apart from Riviere everyone was at least decent certainly in comparison to the vast majority of displays this calendar year. Burnley have done us a massive favor and it doesn’t hurt that QPR will most likely be relegated by the time we play them.

was a decent performance from a makeshift side reflecting the weakness of the squad. I felt for Perez and Riviere with no real build up play we looked short of ideas and in a game where West Brom average height was well over 6ft we tried alot of our usual lofted balls. We dont have Andy Carroll anymore JC
