Five first team Newcastle players are intent on leaving St. James’ Park, even if United survive this Sunday.

Whilst Jonas Gutierrez, Ryan Taylor and Sammy Ameobi are all out of contract at the end of the season, and there are a host of others who pretty much every fan would drive to the airport themselves, five key first team players are also reported to be packing their bags as we speak.

The agents of Papiss Cisse, Cheick Tiote and Moussa Sissoko are all actively looking for new clubs for their clients, according to The Telegraph.

In addition, the newspaper reports that they have been told that Dutch international pair, Daryl Janmaat and Tim Krul, are also now considering leaving as the football club collapses around them.

Whilst all five can be quite rightfully accused of poor form and/or indiscipline this season, if you take these players out of the first team squad then you aren’t left with an awful lot, such has been the dismantling of the squad by Mike Ashley.

The five named by The Telegraph are also the only real internationals still remaining at the club, with Cabella’s shocking form ensuring he’s been ignored by France after a brief flirtation and the likes of Coloccini with his international days well behind him.

The idea of replacing quality/international players such as Carroll, Cabaye, Ba, Forster and Debuchy with generally cheap/budget/unproven players has been disastrous, with even the odd success such as Janmaat very unlikely to stick around due to what he sees around him – on and off the pitch.

  • Paul Patterson

The only ones I’d like to keep would be Krul, Janmaat, Colback and Perez. The rest can sling their hooks . .

  • Andgeo

Our team in the championship next season is going to look a bit like this:
    1: darlow
    2. Anita
    3. Dummet
    4. Lascelles
    5. williamson (c)
    6. Colback
    7. Abeid
    8. Aarons
    9. Armstrong
    10. Perez
    11. Obertan
Then upon promotion fatty will fill his boots with the sale of Armstrong, Perez and Aaron’s for a tidy little profit.
Maybe fatty considers that relegation and promotion activity is better publicity for premiership mediocrity.

  • A lex

And that proves the scale of rebuild required. At least 7 who can hit the first team running, and then a whole raft of capable back ups. Think it will happen? Nah, I don’t either.

  • Jarmin Geordie

    Andgeo          1. Darlow
    2. Streete. 5. Lascelles. 6.Good. 3. Haidara.
                 4. Abeid.   10. Colcack (c)
    7.Aarons.           8. Vuckic.           11. Ferguson.
                             9. Perez.
Squad players:- Woodman Dummett, Satka, Mbabu, Kemen, Bigiramana, Obertan?, Roberts, Armstrong, Heardman.
and that wouldn’t cost Fatman a cent and we wouldn’t bounce straight back like last time, I hope to hell, by hook or by crook we manage to stave off relegation

  • nnnnnmmmmm

yep, we’ve really missed forster, all the games he played for us.
debuchy was replaced – and in many peoples opinion by a better player.
    ba came in for carroll
i agree 100% we have been woefully let down by the owner in recruitment but facts are better

  • NotFatFreddy

Janmatt is the only one worth keeping if we stay up…better keepers than Krul sitting on the bench at other clubs.

  • michaelhodg67

Be lucky to stay up this season if we do next season we will fall from grace and fcb said he won’t sell till 2016 at the earliest may be this is all part of he’s master plan

  • kuromori

Andgeo  Promotion? With that line up? The Championship isn’t that poor.

  • Mal44

The scale of what is required to turn things around is frightening. Has Ashley the guts to do what is required? And if he does what self respecting coach or player will join this shambles?

  • Mal44 I don’t think Ashley has the intelligence to turn things around. I think he genuinely doesn’t realise just how bad things are, so even if we don’t go down this season, we’ll probably go down next season..
The problem is that Ashley surrounds himself with ‘Yes Men’ and none of them will have the guts to tell him how much he really needs to spend to achieve even his unambitious targets, i.e. Premier League survival. His ‘Yes Men’ will tell him what he wants to hear, and pretend that a few budget signings will be enough, when anyone with an ounce of sense can see that a complete overhaul of the club, from top to bottom, is required.

  • BillytheFish

I wouldn’t have Tim Krul in my pub team, he is the worst keeper I have seen at Newcastle, a shot stopper only who has no positional sense, no command of his area and frightened to come off his line.

  • Mal44

    NUFC Tips Mal44  Agree 100%

  • JohnyH

We lose those 5 and get rid of the other deadwood, It would cost 100 million plus to put a squad together capable of another top 17 finish, that’s assuming we stay up.
Not going to happen is it.
I’m sick of paying good money to watch competitive football, and being served up total shite, so he’s not getting another penny off me.

  • crediblejustin736

Are you sure? Maybe you’ve been watching different games. Most of the goals he conceeds, he’s been left open by poor defending. Still he manages to keep most defeats respectable

  • crediblejustin736

How about we get relegated, and somehow convince the good players to stay, sell dead weight pa piss, and smash the championship points record for promotion? No?

  • onmeedsun

We want the players to leave and for no credible manager to take the job. Maybe then Ashley will realise his only option is to sell up. But it needs to happen quickly to allow for new investment in the squad, whatever league we are in.

    Relegated Again

  • Nobbysleftfoot

As far as I’m concerned, anyone but Perez, Aarons, and Colback are welcome to go. We may as well play kids if the so-called senior pros can only win 1 point from 30.

  • Alltomuch

If they don’t want be be there who can blame them
What I would expect is full effort while here even given the fool who blames his tools is still there talking himself up

  • 2 Tone

Paul Patterson I’d keep Abeid and Aarons as well as those you said.
