Big change from bookies on relegation odds for Newcastle and Sunderland

After a dramatic Saturday the bookies’ relegation odds picture has changed significantly.

Going into the weekend the points totals and goal differences of the five contenders were as follows:

38 Aston Villa -20

37 Leicester -13

36 Sunderland -20

36 Newcastle -24

34 Hull -16

The Bookies odds for the last relegation spot were 2/5 Hull, 4/1 Sunderland 13/2 Newcastle, 22/1 Leicester and 50/1 Villa.

The league now shows:

38 Aston Villa -25

38 Leicester -13

37 Sunderland -20

36 Newcastle -25

34 Hull -18

With Leicester and Villa now safe, we are down to three contenders and the remaining fixtures are:

Hull (Man Utd Home)

Newcastle (West Home Home)

Sunderland (Arsenal Away, Chelsea Away)

Over at BetVictor the current relegation odds are now:

1/6 Hull

5/1 Newcastle

12/1 Sunderland

For me, I just can’t see Newcastle beating West Ham, as Alan Shearer said on Saturday night you cannot imagine United winning anything at the minute.

If Newcastle fail to beat West Ham then it simply comes down to whether Hull beat Manchester United.

NUFC are remarkably odds on (37/40) to beat West Ham, whilst Hull are 27/10 to beat Man Utd.

Much talk has centred on Steve Bruce never having beaten his old club in 17 years as a manager but on this final day we all know anything is impossible…whether that includes a Newcastle win is anybody’s guess.
