Three Liverpool players ruled out for Newcastle and waiting on a fourth

Three Liverpool players have been ruled out ahead of Newcastle’s visit to Anfield, whilst the scousers are waiting on a fourth’s availability.

Mamadou Sakho will miss Monday’s game after been forced off with a hamstring injury as Liverpool beat Blackburn on Wednesday night to progress to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Steven Gerrard and Martin Skrtel are also going to miss the match, with both of them serving the last game of a three match suspension.

However, German midfielder is back after returning from his own suspension.

Newcastle United are likely to need every bit of help they can considering the problems of injury, form and…not having very many decent players.

The two clubs have faced each other 41 times in the Premier League and on 15 of those occasions, Newcastle have conceded at least 3 goals. Not the kind of thing that raises the spirits….

It is questionable in whose favour it will be if the fourth possible missing Liverpool player is actually declared fit.

The Reds boss is waiting to see if Mario Balotelli recovers from illness in time to face Newcastle.

The Italian striker has scored only one Premier League goal all season after a near £20m transfer, no doubt most Newcastle fans fear the script will have already been written if Balotelli does make it onto the pitch….

***Brendan Rodgers has also confirmed that Adam Lallana won’t be available for the match either.
