This morning has brought claims from sources/sauces close to Mike Ashley, that he is now planning an NUFC u-turn on the policy of not trying in the FA and League Cups.

Coincidentally appearing on the very day that fans have organised a boycott of the Spurs match, the fact that these claims are being carried across many different media, points to it being a story fed from the club’s cynical PR offensive to try and counter the fan unrest.

These claims of actually trying in the cups have followed other seemingly planted stories in the press, claiming large sums will be spent in the summer on the Newcastle squad, along with named players such as QPR’s Charlie Austin allegedly being lined up.

The very fact that a football club has to push out a message claiming that it is now going to actually try in cup competitions, tells you everything.

If you recall, at one of the NUFC fans forums the club actually prepared some statistics (that had more holes in them than…) to justify not trying in the cups.

Attempting to show just how dangerous it would be in terms of possible relegation, if they actually did put out a team that tried to win cup matches.

    Don’t believe a word of it . .

  • NottsToon

If these ar**holes told me the pitch was green I’d check they hadn’t plastered it with a Sh**e Direct logo.

  • shaunieoisdead

No way? If this is true it’s the biggest reason we need rid of Ashley he’s a con man. I’m a ST holder and I won’t be in the ground today I’ll be joining in the protest. I’m 38 have been going since I can remember. The sooner everyone realises he needs us the better, he can be forced out its going to require tough love we could see us fall into the championship and the fact I’m prepared to accept that says a lot of where I am with this poor excuse for a human being.

  • NottsToon

We should take heart from this lads, all the propaganda being unleashed over the last few days has been a direct response to the boycott, make no mistake that there are worried men inside that ground, and somewhere in Berkshire where Fatty will probably be watching the match today…..if he still gives a sh*t about his investment that is.

  • 50trevor

Flaming pathetic after 8 years of lies
they seriously expect us to believe this rubbish.
They haven’t  even the balls to
    make  a club statement.
They must be worried and are hoping this
garbage effects the decision of fans to attend I hope it has the opposite
I have supported NUFC for over50 years and
have seen many highs and lows but never felt the necessity to not go to match
especially one I Have paid for.
I know its hard but we have chance to show them
that we do matter and we do have a say on what happens at our beloved NUFCStay Away.
    Power to the FANS

  • DavidDrape

50trevor well done and aid trevor.

  • DavidDrape

NottsToon yip interesting to see if he shows his face. hopefully, if its the tv will focus on it (thats if sky isn’t in his pocket). putting kids tickets on for a fiver at hem to man city told me he was scared after thousands gave up last summer

  • Morpeth mag

If this is true and he/they are now admitting that they didn’t try in the cups, is this not similar to match fixing? Should this not be investigated by the FA? Also should the fans who went to these matches wanting newcastle to win not be rembersed for there expense? Is he a fit person to own a football club? If he was a thai business man the newspapers! Would be all over it.

  • SGM

Belfast Ali Ive a feeling that the ducks won’t get over-fed today, see you there Ali

  • Sickandtiredstill

Just goes to show what a bunch of liars they actually are. Pardew and Carver included.
‘No one tells me what side to play” Hahahahah! The Clubs PR team have now blown that out of the water!

  • johnboy56

Hi all after watching the toon for 50years I have had enough in fact I worked there for about 12years but they can’t pay me to go  Ashley out I will be at the boycott

  • Demented_Man

Belfast Ali Thanks a lot.  Enjoy your day in the sheep pens.

    Baa! Baa! Baa! Mr Ashley!

  • Demented_Man

    johnboy56 Good for you, mate.

  • Phildene

@Belfast Ali. Aye Yu make sure yu line fat Ashleys pocket a bit more, along with the rest of the sheep! No wonder he ain’t going anywhere with gullible sheep like yu around.

  • Sickandtiredstill

Belfast Ali Moan? Jeezus, here’s the Club admitting they haven’t been interested in the Cups (despite what Pardew, Carver and Management claimed).
Seems no matter what is said, admitted, or takes place, some so called ‘supporters’ will just keep sucking it up. Then have the downright audacity to criticise those of us taking a stand.

  • jarra lad

DavidDrape 50trevor  How can we help him?

  • Adam_B

    Morpeth mag  exactly right

  • Chemical Dave

@SGM, you sure you want to venture outside ? Might be s bit safer indoors for you with your “careful what you wish for” outlook on life.

  • Jarra MIck

    Spot on John.

  • magpie9

Unnamed sources? Some lazy reporter who couldn’t find a story if his life depended on it. These clowns who write this junk should be accountable otherwise it is just a pile of fiction to feed to gullible masses

  • magpie9

Morpeth mag  The fans who paid good money to travel & watch those games paid to see a football game not an exercise in futility. Should sue the fat man & all those who perpetuated the lie that they were actually trying win a game

  • Gary Linney

BOLLOX! Don’t believe a word the fcb says!
