Who do you think should be in the Newcastle team v Sunderland?

The only player John Carver says is available who wasn’t two weeks ago against Arsenal, is Mehdi Abeid.

(To feature like Sam, send in your articles for our website to [email protected] – all views those of the author etc etc)

So I can see only nineteen (at the very most) players being possibly involved tomorrow.

The Algerian mdfielder and these other eighteen who were on duty for that game against the Gunners:

Krul, Ryan Taylor, Janmaat, Williamson, Colback, Anita, Sissoko, Gouffran, Ameobi, Cabella, Perez

(subs) Gutierrez, Armstrong, Elliot, Obertan, Riviere, Satka, Kemen

Key to my selection is getting Jonas in at left-back to free up Jack Colback  to hopefully form a partnership in the middle of the pitch to win the battle there.

I predict the line-up and formation below can surely raise their game and help a desperate Sunderland a step closer to relegation…

To create the image above I used the NUFC team selector.

You can do the same by following the simple instructions HERE and then there are a number of great options where you can then also share your team via Twitter (include @nufcthemag in your tweet and we will share some of the teams you put up with our 13k+ followers) , or you can share the selector on Facebook with friends, family and the rest of the black and white world. Alternatively, simply downloading the team image to the device you are using

When using the NUFC team selector you simply click on what team formation (4-3-3, 4-4-2 etc) you want, then click each position on the pitch and choose from the Newcastle United squad.

Go to the NUFC team selector now and choose and share your Newcastle team v Sunderland.

Before every match, simply go to the menu at the top of this screen and click features, then on the drop down list click NUFC Team Selector and choose your team for every match.

I think it’ll be whoever brings their boots or whoever’s got a ball, we’re so short on numbers

but will he play gutierrez?….or guffron!!

Sam Hepworth:  Let’s hope you are correct in one matter:  Not to name Vurnon Anita in the starting eleven.  I would go so far as to say I hope Anita does not find his way onto the pitch until and unless all other options have been used.   This diminutive midfielder is lucky to have a place on any squad in the Premier League.  He is constantly over matched in pace, possession and physical presence.  In my opinion, of all of the so-called starters, Anita is the weakest player on the team.  Sissoko, Colback, Cabella, Gutierrez, Obertan and Tiote (and Abeid, apparently) all have more quality at the midfield position.

I’d play the exact same team. Bit exposed in full back areas but worth it to get Colback in his area of greatest impact. That midfield 3 gives us half a chance.
Carver will okay Colback left back. Ffs.

  • alreet

Is aarons available? If so he has to be used as an impact sub on the hour mark. No point having riviere in the start coz he has wasted so many chances for a striker its untrue.
    Id have
    Raylor. Willo. Satka. Janmaat
    Abeid. Colback
    Cabella. Ameobi
We need to free up janmaat and colback. Janmaat has way too many assists to be locked in centre back. Theres no one else to fill in besides satka and dont even know if hes any good.
Need lots of pace up top. Dont have cabella tracking back too much he needs to run at em not run back. Use the wings and hold the line in the middle. Dont give any space or time from the 50 yard line.
It will be niggly but we really cant have another loss.

    Thats a losing Team !

Geordie Zebra Well he is an idiot isnt he

  • Munich Mag

Geordie Zebra colback was minging at left back against arsenal. sunnerlund will be all over him today. i can see a jonas / gouffron left side pairing, with colback back in midfield.

We might as well concede the game now. Save the embarrassment and humiliation of getting beat by a team who would have been relegated in the past two seasons had we not gifted them the points on the pitch, and a team that would be easily 2nd off bottom if we hadn’t already gifted them 3 points this season. Mike Ashley’s NUFC is a total disgrace, I just hope we don’t let ourselves down as supporters with a load of bother pre/post match, to divert the attention away from the fat disgrace who is ripping us all off to the tune of tens of millions £ each season. He is the enemy now not the mackems.

  • Andgeo

    Id go:
Fat ashley (put him on the post for set pieces, reduces the goal size by at least 50% making kruls job a hell of a lot easier and maybe a bit running around might induce a fatal heart attack)
    2 kids
Steve stone (player coach: must be able to offer more for 10 mins than obertan or goufran)
John carver (player first team coach, not manager, as apparently we don’t need a manager anymore coz they cost too much: could always come on for the last 10 mins to have a fight with someone)
