Newcastle Squad – Is it worse than we all thought?

Below is a list of the current senior squad registered with the Premier League, with only Armstrong and Aarons coming through the youth there isn’t anything else to add to this from within the club.

Then we have Darlow and Lascelles potentially coming in which would make 28, also taking into account Ayoze Perez who is currently categorized as one of the Under 21s.

However, this is where the issues start; Jonas is off, Ferreyra is only on loan and Ryan Taylor is in the final few months of his contract.

Ameobi, Anita, Elliot, Gouffran, Riviere, Obertan, Williamson aren’t good enough and at best Dummett, Haidara, Abeid and Steven Taylor should be squad players and nowhere near the starting 11.

Ashley being Ashley will most likely cash in on Sissoko, Janmaat, Tiote, Krul and possibly Cisse.

To get a squad good enough to compete to stay in the league, a massive rebuild is required, and we all know that Ashley isn’t the biggest spender of cash.

Then with it looking more and more likely that Carver will remain in charge, are we going to be in any position to attract any sort of quality player to the club.

Is it worse than we all thought??
