Looks like Papiss Cisse out until next season

Jonny Evans is once again available for Manchester United after his ban ended, whilst Papiss Cisse has one more game (Leicester) before his suspension ends.

However, you might have wondered why John Carver hadn’t been making a lot of the fact that he’d soon have his one credible goalscorer back in the squad.

Sadly it looks as though Papiss Cisse’s season could be over.

After picking up that seven game ban in early March, the striker took the chance to have a clean-up procedure on his knee.

However, now it has been revealed that the striker hasn’t even joined in with any training with the team and is still under the care of the medical staff.

John Carver says that we will ‘just have to wait and see’ but with it now only 24 days until the curtain closes with the visit of West Ham, it looks all but certain that we won’t be seeing Papiss Cisse back on the pitch this season:

In Cisse’s absence, John Carver is pinning his faith on Emmanuel (no Premier League goals) Riviere, with the French striker guaranteed to start, as Carver stated at the start of this week.

John Carver:

“He (Papiss Cisse) is working with the medical team and he is not 100 per cent, he hasn’t joined in with us yet with any football and so we will just have to wait and see.

“This is another chance for Riviere and he did very well last week, especially the first half, he ran out of steam as hadn’t had too much football.”

Riviere will start:

“He will start this weekend because he deserves to, he ran himself into the ground last week and when I took him off I wasn’t sure whether the boos were for him or me.

“I need eleven players who are going to do for me what he (Riviere) did for me last weekend.”
