Interesting quotes this morning from Karren Brady, with the West Ham vice-chair questioning whether Mike Ashley passes the ‘tests’ of commitment to the community on Tyneside.
Brady says that whilst owning a football club is a business, at the same time it has a responsibility to the fans, the community and to the game itself.
In her column in The Sun, Karren Brady unfavourably compares Ashley to West Ham owners Gold and Sullivan, contrasting their commitment to West Ham with that of Mike Ashley and NUFC.
“David Gold says that there’s no chance of he and co-owner David Sullivan selling West Ham.
“How different from Mike Ashley, who appears to be going through the motions like a marriage with Newcastle, that both bores and irritates him.”
“Owning a club is a business but, more than that, it is a responsibility to the community, fans and the game itself.
“Only Mike Ashley knows how many of those tests he thinks he passes.”
I think I can guess how many tests most Newcastle fans think Mike Ashley passes…
