Newcastle v Swansea 3pm

John Carver has recalled Jonas Gutierrez and Emmanuel Riviere to his starting eleven.

Yoan Gouffran and Mehdi Abeid making way.

Today’s team:

Krul, Janmaat, Williamson, Coloccini, Anita, Ryan Taylor, Colback, Cabella, Gutierrez,  Riviere, Perez

As expected Siem de Jong is included for the first time since the start of the season, featuring on this bench:

Woodman, Abeid, Gouffran, Abeid, de Jong, Ameobi, Armstrong

Not sure whether John Carver is making some kind of point here but there isn’t a single defender included amongst the subs.

Possibly theory is that the likes of Ryan Taylor, Jack Colback and Jonas Gutierrez can drop back into full-back but surely they may as well have had one of the young defenders on the bench as a bit of experience.

No gouffran = a slim chance, which is better than no chance if he plays

  • mentalman

What has abeid done to get dropped he out performed the rest of our midfield last weekend.
Taylor who has been absolutely rubbish this season and has no future at the club seems to be undroppable

  • alreet

Anita at left back is doing well, will he bring de jong on at HT for the slack gummy bear that is riviere.

so the response from carver, any guesses before his interview.

Yea we started very well but they had alot more in the second half and we couldnt deal with it.

Blah blah, ref problems, blah, mistakes yadda yadda not my fault.

    Miss anything?

  • Conman

Apart from not wanting to be seen to be wasting their money.
Can someone tell me why there are 46k there today. They don’t deserve this type of support and certainly don’t give it back.
And if someone says loyalty. It takes more loyalty to stay away and make a difference then just to go and sit quietly.

Well done John Carver on behalf of the Ashley Out campai

If carver had any balls and care for the club he would quit! Anywhere else and he would of been sacked!

alreet I thought Riv was pretty good today

  • Toon Magpie

He is a Geordie so can do no wrong in the eyes of Mugpies. He should have been sacked especially after 7 now, I can see 8,9,10,11 defeats in a row but Ashley still keeping him for next season.

  • Toon Magpie

I can only assume they feel sorry for Carver’s ineptitude because he is a Geordie.

  • toon tony

    Oui ces’t Un krap.

  • Conman

Has a caretaker manager ever been sacked after three months ?
This bloke deserves the boot. Then we may get the the small bounce that normally comes with a new manager. I really don’t have any other idea but sticking with Geordie John is very much a risk.

  • Toon Magpie

But he is a Geordie that’s what I hear and you are not allowed to blame a Geordie so it is players or Ashley, when I blamed Carver a few fans seemed to defend him and attacked me but I am right with you the Head Coach isn’t the solution to anything but relegation, some fans want that.

  • Alsteads

    Yup understand that one gents!

Are we all not over the moon that we have netbuster Riviera on the books…….? Stalwart Anita sorting out the midfield and defence……? Squid worth on the bench with Goof the poof…..? John ” I’ve worked with Sir Bobby” Carver steering us all into safe waters at the helm of our ship…..? God and Sir Bobby please help us because we are in DEEP TROUBLE!!!!!

Pretty good at what. Passing to the opposition or just not having a clue what to do when he had the ball.
At least shola chipped in on occasion. This boy hasnt scored all season. Even cabella has a couple and hes on the wing. Colback has about 4 and hes defensive wtaf!
